![]() Medical Toxicology InstituteThe Medical Toxicology Institute is an umbrella organization designed to ensure life long learning educational opportunities and career growth for medical toxicologists employing a variety of educational approaches. The Medical Toxicology Institute focuses on enhancing the skill set of practicing medical throughout their careers once they have completed their formal fellowship training through innovative teaching techniques utilizing one-on-one mentoring, on-line learning and more traditional symposia and courses. The Medical Toxicology Institute hopes to target specific skills reflecting the heterogeneity of medical toxicology that may advance member career's both academically and in the practice arena. Programs of the Medical Toxicology Institute include the following: This program brings together medical toxicology mentors and mentees for one-on-one apprenticeship opportunities that will provide hands on practical training for skill development and refinement. Examples of such training include tutelage in IME report writing, interpretation of outpatient tests such as methacholine challenges, interpretation of industrial hygiene data and how to set up an ongoing occupational monitoring program, business skill development, legal report writing critique, basic science and clinical research skill development, and public speaking and lecture development.
With the rapid advances in information technology and web-based learned, more and more education can be offered on-line. Such teaching can complement traditional courses and symposia and provide easy access to state-of-the-art seminars from national and international authorities. This program will build a comprehensive inventory of current topics in medical toxicology and will provide access to lectures developed exclusively for web-based learning as well as a catalog of lectures presented at recent medical toxicology conferences and colloquiums.
Endowed lectureships support medical toxicology education and honor the lives of outstanding medical toxicologists. These lectureships highlight cutting edge research on medical toxicology topics and will be delivered at national and international medical toxicology conferences supported by the MTF.
This award supports the development of quality medical toxicology teaching presentation to be presented at the annual Fellows-in-Training luncheon.
This program provide funding for toxicologists from 3rd world countries and US toxicologists to participate in an exchange program where American toxicologists visit developing country toxicology programs and developing country toxicologists visit American toxicology programs. Such an exchange of knowledge and partnership provides benefits to both American medical toxicologists and their international colleagues. |
