ACMT Membership Categories and Eligibility

 
The College offers the following membership categories. 
 

Full Membership

$325.00 Annual Dues

Available to physicians who have:

(1) Been certified in the subspecialty of Medical Toxicology by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Preventive Medicine, or

(2) Completed a two-year medical toxicology fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and received the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Medical Toxicology from the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), or

(3) Been certified by the former American Board of Medical Toxicology.

All members in good standing shall have the right to vote, and be eligible to be Directors and Officers.

Associate Membership

$75.00 Annual Dues

Physicians who have successfully completed a residency training program in a primary medical specialty, and who are enrolled in a training program in medical toxicology that has been approved by the ACGME, are eligible to become Associate Members. Associate membership eligibility is also extended to candidates who have completed such a fellowship program but who have not yet passed or not eligible to take the ABMS-approved certification exam in Medical Toxicology. Associate membership shall be limited to a maximum of six years, unless an extension is granted by the Membership Committee and approved by the Board. Associate members shall pay reduced dues and shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office or become Fellows. 

Resident Membership

$25.00 Annual Dues

Available to physicians who are currently enrolled in a training program in any medical specialty. Resident members shall pay reduced dues and enjoy all of the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote, hold office or become Fellows. Resident membership will be limited by the duration of the individual's training program. A print subscripton to the Journal of Medical Toxicology (JMT) can be added for an additional $50.00.

Medical Student Membership

$0.00 Annual Dues

Medical students enrolled in a medical school are eligible to become Medical Student Members. These members shall enjoy all of the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote, hold office or become Fellows. Medical student membership will be limited by the duration of the individual's training program. There is no membership fee for medical students. A print subscripton to the Journal of Medical Toxicology (JMT) can be added for $50.00.

International Membership - Developing Countries

$50.00 Annual Dues

The Developing Countries special membership rate is available to toxicologists in countries defined as low and lower-middle income by the World Bank. This enables these toxicologists, for whom the cost of membership is outside of their means, to access toxicology resources and network with colleagues from around the world. Click here for a list of World Bank countries in low-income and lower middle-income economies. Prospective International Members shall be considered by the Membership Committee, and must be approved by the Board of Directors. International member applicants are required to provide three referrals (at least two references need to be from current ACMT members). A print subscription to the Journal of Medical Toxicology (JMT) can be added for an additional $50.00 USD.

International Membership - Developed Countries

$200.00 Annual Dues

A physician who is licensed to practice medicine in countries outside the United States, who practices medical toxicology as a substantial portion of their professional activities. International member applicants are required to provide three referrals (at least two references need to be from current ACMT members). Prospective International Members shall be considered by the Membership Committee, and must be approved by the Board of Directors. International members shall pay reduced dues, and shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office. A print subscription to the Journal of Medical Toxicology (JMT) is included.

Affiliate Membership

$200.00 Annual Dues

Licensed U.S. physicians who have an interest in medical toxicology and non-physicians who have a doctorate-level degree or ABAT certification and work in a field related to medical toxicology are eligible to become Affiliate Members. Affiliate member applicants are required to provide a CV and three referrals (at least two references need to be from current ACMT members). Affiliate members shall pay reduced dues, and enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote, to hold office or to become Fellows.
