Biosketch:

Dr. Kao completed her Emergency Medicine Residency and Medical Toxicology Fellowship at Indiana University in Indianapolis. She is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology. She serves as the Director of the Medical Toxicology Fellowship and the Director of the Medical Toxicology Resident Rotation. Dr. Kao’s areas of interest include the use of intravenous n-acetylcysteine, carbon monoxide poisoning, baclofen intoxication and withdrawal, toxic alcohols, and management of combative patients as well as general toxicologic management. She has been principal or co-investigator on several research projects in toxicology and has authored several articles and textbook chapters in the areas of Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology. Dr. Kao is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine.
