This year, the ASM focused on innovations and updates in research, practice, and teaching in the field of medical toxicology. Numerous speakers delivered exceptional educational content to attendees over the course of three days. Below are just a few session highlights:
- Jeremy Sugarman, MD, from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Berman Institute of Bioethics explored numerous challenges and ethical issues in medical toxicology research.
- Theresa Chan, MD, from McMaster University presented several ways in which medical toxicologists could get involved with cutting edge medical education methods.
ACMT Board Member Ziad Kazzi, MD, FACMT, adds “We had a successful Medical Student and Resident Track at ASM with a total of 70 registrants, 35 of which were from Puerto Rico. We also had an informal get together with some of the residents that are exploring a career in Med Tox.”
In addition to engaging sessions and speakers, the ASM featured 120 poster presentations and the opportunity for networking among attendees. The ASM conference app was downloaded 226 times and 89% of conference attendees created profiles. Favorite features of the app included presentation slides, the ability to view poster abstracts and the activity stream.
