Medical Toxicology Development AwardsThe MTF Development Awards is designed to ensure continued recruitment and retention of new medical toxicologists. These travel awards will continue the tradition of the Spadafora Award (established in 2000) and the Minority Student Travel Award (established 2009) that had been initially administered by ACMT. This program focuses on attracting medical students and residents to careers in medical toxicology. This program supports the following awards:
The Spadafora award was established to encourage residents to pursue Medical Toxicology fellowship training by providing the opportunity to experience medical toxicology first-hand by attending a national toxicology meeting, such as the ACMT Spring Conference. Any member of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency program is eligible to receive the award. One recipient will be chosen each year. Recipients receive an award of $1500 to cover travel expenses to the meeting.
The Minority Student Travel Award was established to encourage underrepresented minority medical trainees (medical students or residents) to attend the 2010 ACMT Spring Conference. Initially funded through ACMT’s cooperative agreement with ATSDR, this award provides the opportunity to attend the ACMT Spring Conference. One recipient will be chosen each year. Recipients receive an award of $1500 to cover travel expenses to the meeting. |
