Public Awareness in Medical Toxicology Awards

Prevention is one of the critical cornerstones of effective healthcare delivery. Adults and children are exposed to drugs, chemicals, and natural toxins on a daily basis.  Although most of these exposures do not present a true health hazard, others are much more concerning and may cause consequential illness, suffering, and disease. The MTF Public Education in Medical Toxicology offers a program of public education programs to the community that will provide lay-targeted education from national medical toxicology experts.

This award will build on the success of the ACMT’s First Public Workshop offered at the ACMT Annual Meeting in Scottsdale in March 2010 to develop future annual public workshops and other civic interactions. Committee members will reach out to the media and public groups (such as AARP) to increase awareness regarding human toxicology issues.

  • Public Education Workshops

This $2500 award will help support the development of workshops to be convened in association with the ACMT Spring Conference that will provide education to the community on timely topics of medical toxicology interest.

  • Public Education On-Line Learning

This $500 award supports the development of web-based education programs on medical toxicology topics geared toward communities and the public.
