FIT MedTox Shark Tank Research Forum

The ACMT Fellows-in-Training (FIT) MedTox Shark Tank Research Forum is an opportunity for fellows to obtain expert input during the formative stage of their research projects. During the MedTox Shark Tank Session, Fellows will be given 10 minutes for an oral presentation that emphasizes the crafting of a study hypothesis, proposed study methodology, data collection, analytic techniques, and budget. The presentations will be made to a panel of senior medical toxicology faculty in an environment geared towards constructive comments and feedback. The panel will select the top two presentations and award each $1500 towards travel to present their research results at either the 2019 or 2020 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting. The overall goal of the forum is to offer the Fellow-in-Training valuable insight that could strengthen his or her proposed research project.
The MedTox Shark Tank FIT Research Forum provides many benefits to the trainee including:
  • Public speaking experience
  • Constructive critique of research ideas and methodology
  • Exposure to other creative research ideas
  • Networking among peers and prospective employers
  • Presentation is a justifiable addition to an academic curriculum vitae
  • Opportunity for travel funding to return to the 2019 or 2020 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting to present research results
