ACMT Membership Categories and Eligibility
Please see below for an overview of the membership options available with ACMT. After you confirm that you meet the criteria, click the title of the category in which you are eligible, complete the online membership application, and submit with your dues payment through our secure website.
Depending on your membership category, additional material may be required to complete your application, such as letters of reference. If this is the case, you will receive an email notification with instructions on how to submit the additional material. After your complete application is received and approved by the ACMT National Office and/or ACMT Membership Committee, you will receive an email welcome letter with your login and password to begin enjoying your ACMT membership.
$440.00 Annual Dues
Available to physicians who have:
(1) Been certified in the subspecialty of Medical Toxicology by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Preventive Medicine, or
(2) Completed a two-year medical toxicology fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and received the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Medical Toxicology from the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), or
(3) Been certified by the former American Board of Medical Toxicology.
All members in good standing shall have the right to vote, and be eligible to be Directors and Officers.

Physicians who have successfully completed a residency training program in a primary medical specialty, and who are enrolled in a training program in medical toxicology that has been approved by the ACGME, are eligible to become Associate Members. Associate membership eligibility is also extended to candidates who have completed such a fellowship program but who have not yet passed or not eligible to take the ABMS-approved certification exam in Medical Toxicology. Associate membership shall be limited to a maximum of six years, unless an extension is granted by the Membership Committee and approved by the Board. Associate members shall pay reduced dues and shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office or become Fellows.

Either licensed physicians or non-physicians with an advanced-level degree or ABAT certification that either works in a field related to medical toxicology or has demonstrated significant interest in medical toxicology is eligible to apply for Affiliate membership. Affiliate members would enjoy all the privileges of membership, except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office or to become a Fellow of the College. Affiliate members shall be approved by the Membership Committee.
Affiliate member applicants are required to provide two referrals (at least one reference needs to be from a current ACMT member). If you are an ABAT member, no reference is required. Available to physicians who are currently enrolled in a training program in any medical specialty. Resident members shall pay reduced dues and enjoy all of the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote, hold office or become Fellows. Resident membership will be limited by the duration of the individual's training program.

Medical students enrolled in a medical school are eligible to become Medical Student Members. Medical Student members shall pay reduced dues and enjoy all of the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote, hold office or become Fellows. Medical student membership will be limited by the duration of the individual's training program.

All eligibility requirements and criteria are the same as International or International Affiliate membership, however the Developing Countries special membership rate is available to toxicologists in countries defined as low and lower-middle income by the World Bank. This enables these toxicologists, for whom the cost of membership is outside of their means, to access toxicology resources and network with colleagues from around the world.
