The spread of SARS-CoV-2 and the ensuing pandemic has resulted in extraordinary impacts on hospital systems around the world. Epidemiological modeling has played an important role in shaping policy responses and in aiding hospitals in preparation for surges of patients. Mathematical ecologist and epidemiologist, Dr. Eili Klein, willI explain basic epidemiological modeling concepts and how they relate to policy responses.

Endocrine and general surgeon, Dr. Romero Arenas will provide an overview of the Rio Grande Valley, including background on socioeconomic disparities that have been highlighted by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
