COVID-19 poison center call management averages more than 7 minutes from start to finish, while the average poison center call is approximately ½ that time. Individual poison centers can work with their state Departments of Public Health in a number of areas including: expanding answering capacity for the state or region, assisting in tracking cases and complications of care, and developing/facilitating communication of poison prevention messages. Drs. Dan Brooks from Phoenix AZ, and Diane Calello from Newark NJ have volunteered to answer questions from interested poison center management, and can be reached by email.
