Welcome. You found your global home in toxicology.
Whether you clicked through from an email or found us on your own — we’re glad you’re here. ACMT offers three pathways for international professionals. Here’s everything you need to know to find the right fit and apply.

Full membership privileges (except voting and holding office) for physicians practicing medical toxicology outside the U.S. Eligible for FACMT designation after 4 years.

International Member – Reduced Rate

International Affiliate
$240/per year
For licensed physicians or non-physician professionals with an advanced degree who live and work outside the U.S. and are engaged in or interested in medical toxicology.
Eligibility
Physicians practicing medical toxicology outside the United States may be eligible for International Membership. Applicants must be approved by the Membership Committee and submit three referrals, including at least one from a current ACMT member.
At least one of the following applies:
- More than half of your medical toxicology practice occurs outside the United States, or
- You are ineligible to sit for ABMS or AOBEM board certification because residency or fellowship training was completed outside the U.S.
- You have completed a training program in a primary specialty equivalent to a U.S. residency program
- You are actively engaged in the practice of medical toxicology
International Affiliate Membership
Affiliate Membership is designed for a broad range of professionals who aren’t physicians — or who are physicians whose work doesn’t meet the International Member criteria. Eligible applicants include licensed professionals with an advanced-level degree or ABAT certification who work in a field related to medical toxicology or who have demonstrated a strong interest in the specialty.
This includes pharmacists, advanced practice nurses, poison center managers, forensic toxicologists, veterinarians with toxicology specializations, clinical laboratory scientists, epidemiologists, environmental health specialists, and more. Not sure if you qualify? Email us — we’re always happy to help.
International Affiliate members enjoy nearly all membership benefits — access to educational resources, networking, and engagement with the community — except voting, holding office, or eligibility for the FACMT designation.
Application requires: three referrals, at least one from a current ACMT member. International applicants complete the same form as U.S. affiliates.
