ACMT Recognition Awards
These awards are to honor ACMT members who have made significant contributions to the College or to the specialty of Medical Toxicology. There are numerous ACMT members that are deserving of these honors and recognition. Awards are presented annually at ACMT’s Annual Scientific Meeting.

Nomination Procedures
All nominations must be submitted using this online nomination form. Letters of nomination should be uploaded or pasted into the designated nomination statement section of this form and must include detailed, specific information regarding the nominee’s contributions to Medical Toxicology.
If additional documentation is required, ACMT staff may follow up with the nominator to request supporting materials, including a CV if not already on file.
Award and Presentation
Each year the Awards Committee will evaluate the new entries submitted and all previous nominees who were not given the award. The recommendations are subject to review by the ACMT Board of Directors. The decision of the Board is final, and the Board reserves the right to make no award if there are no nominees of sufficient merit.
The recipient will be recognized at the annual ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting.
Outstanding Service to the College
Purpose
This Award will honor a member who has rendered outstanding service to the American College of Medical Toxicology.
Criteria
Any member may nominate himself/herself or any other member who would be considered a role model. Outstanding service may include but is not limited to; longevity of committee service, chairmanship of committees, new program development or subcommittee creation and leadership, and lead authorship of position statements.
Outstanding Contribution to Medical Toxicology Education
Purpose
This Award will honor an ACMT member who has made significant contributions to the educational pursuits of medical toxicology.
Criteria
Any member of the College may nominate himself/herself or another member for this award. The nominee must be a member of the College. Examples of outstanding contributions may include but are not limited to; an outstanding teacher who has made an educational impact on medical toxicology, development of teaching methods (books, other publications, audiovisual teaching tools, and computer instruction), and outstanding service in medical toxicology fellowship training.
Outstanding Contribution to Medical Toxicology Research
Purpose
This Award will be presented to a member of the College who has made significant research contributions in the field of medical toxicology.
Criteria
Any member of the College may nominate himself/herself or another member for this award. The nominee must be a member of the College. Examples of outstanding contributions may include but are not limited to; outstanding research either basic or clinical science, research contributions that have changed the practice of medical toxicology, and research innovation.

Mark Mycyk, MD, FACMT
Mark Mycyk found his way to medicine after obtaining a degree in English and American Literature from Harvard University. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center, a fellowship in medical toxicology at the Toxikon Consortium and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and currently serves as the Research Director at the Toxikon Consortium. His current scholarly work focuses on NEW (non-traditional, emerging, and web-based) drugs of abuse and innovative ways of disseminating scholarship.

Medicine, Addiction Toxicology Consulting PLLC, ASAM President Elect (2025-2027)
Dr. Tim Wiegand is the Director of Toxicology Consults and President of CMO Medicine and Toxicology & Addiction Consulting. Board-certified in both Medical Toxicology and Addiction Medicine, Dr. Wiegand specializes in Addiction Toxicology, combining clinical practice with research, teaching, and leadership roles. He has served two terms on the Board of Directors for the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) and is currently on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). From 2023-2025, he served as Treasurer of ASAM, having previously served as Vice President on the Executive Council. From 2025-2027, Dr. Wiegand will serve as ASAM President Elect and then ASAM President (2027-2029). Dr. Wiegand founded and led the Toxicology Service at URMC until 2022, when he transitioned to Director of Addiction Medicine and Director of Addiction Medicine Consults in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He also serves as Fellowship Director for the URMC Combined Addiction Medicine Fellowship and is leading efforts to launch the URMC Medical Toxicology Fellowship, which is expected to be formally accredited by July 2023.

Peter Chai, MD, MMS, FACMT
Dr. Peter R Chai is an associate professor of emergency medicine and medical toxicology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and an affiliate research scholar at the Koch Institute for Integrated Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and The Fenway Institute. He is also a research faculty member at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Chai’s research primarily involves developing and implementing technological solutions to detect and respond to changes in disease. He has been primarily interested in leveraging ingestible, injectable, and smartphone-based sensors to understand medication adherence in HIV research as well as substance use disorders. These body sensor systems serve as an architecture for Dr. Chai and his team to develop context-aware, personalized behavioral support tools to improve engagement in care and medication adherence. In addition to his work on ingestible and implantable sensors, Dr. Chai also develops novel drug delivery systems that achieve gastric residence and facilitate the delivery of electroceutical, bioelectronic, and ultra-long release drugs.
