RFP Submission Deadline: January 22, 2024

Join ACMT at NACCT in Denver! We are now accepting proposals for the ACMT activities at the 2024 North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology (NACCT): the ACMT Pre-Meeting, ACMT Practice Symposium, ACMT Scientific Symposium, and the ACMT FIT Visiting Professor Lecture. The deadline for all proposal submissions has been extended to January 22, 2024. Applicants will be notified whether they have been selected to participate in the forum via email in February 2024.

2024 NACCT is an in-person meeting without virtual options for speakers. Therefore, proposals for speakers who are local to Denver or include ACMT Members who will already be present at NACCT will be given special consideration.

For questions please write to ACMT Education Program Manager, Adrienne Dunavin, at adrienne.dunavin@acmt.net.

ACMT Pre-Meeting

The ACMT Pre-Meeting is a full-day session scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024. ACMT is looking for proposals that focus on dynamic subject matter or themes that appeal to a diverse audience of physicians, poison control specialists, etc. A good proposal will include enough plenary or panel ideas to cover 6-7 hours of continuing education content. At this point, the committee isn’t looking for a fully fleshed-out agenda, but more of an innovative idea with some proposed speakers.

ACMT Practice Symposium

The ACMT Practice Symposium is 60 minutes in length and covers matters pertaining to clinical practice development, career advancement, and expansion of the realm of medical toxicology. The format is usually didactic sessions, although panel discussions may be included if the topic allows. The planning committee is looking for proposals that include a general topic idea as well as prospective speakers who would be a good fit to cover the proposed topic.

ACMT Scientific Symposium

The ACMT Scientific Symposium is 60 minutes in length and covers new scientific advancements in medical toxicology, often with a basic science focus. The format usually includes several didactic sessions (e.g., lectures); although, panel discussions may be included if the topic and time allow. The planning committee is looking for proposals that include a general topic idea as well as prospective speakers who would be a good fit to cover the proposed topic.

The ACMT FIT Visiting Professor Lecture

The ACMT Fellows-in-Training (FIT) Visiting Professor Lecture is a 60-minute presentation delivered by an ACMT member to fellows-in-training attending NACCT. This is a great opportunity for a medical toxicologist to present an interesting and/or innovative aspect of medical toxicology while fostering the education of trainees. The planning committee is looking for proposals that include a specific topic as well as the name of the ACMT Member who would be a good fit to cover the topic.

CPC Quick Info

Submission Deadline:

CPC Submission Deadline: June 1, 2024

The American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) is proud to announce the 25th Clinical Pathological Case Presentation Competition (CPC) in association with North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology (NACCT) in Denver, Colorado.

We are asking for challenging poisoning cases, prepared in a format suitable to present as an unknown to another CPC participant. In return, you will be given a similarly vexing case with which to generate a differential diagnosis, educate the audience, and hopefully also to solve. Out of all submissions received, an ACMT educational sub-committee will choose the top three cases for the CPC competition.

ACMT will be happy to accept CPC case submissions from outside of Toxicology Fellowship programs. Cases may be submitted by any academic toxicology mentor/mentee pairing, as long as the senior member (CPC Case Discussant) in this relationship is an ACMT physician member who has an academic supervisory role in relation to the junior member (CPC Case Presenter). Thus, the senior member will be an Attending Physician in a Toxicology Fellowship and/or a Residency program proximate to toxicology, and the junior member can be a Fellow, Resident Physician, or a closely-associated healthcare colleague. Although it is likely that participating junior members will be from Tox, EM, Peds, Occ Med, or Pharm, they can represent any specialty so long as they are working with an ACMT Member and they are submitting a Toxicology-related case.

If you have any questions about how the CPC works, or if a case you have would be good for the CPC, or anything else, please contact  Jeff Suchard at jsuchard@hs.uci.edu.
