Women in Toxicology (WiT) Update

Though modified due to the pandemic, WiT has continued to meet virtually and to support our members during 2021.

In March we hosted a virtual book club and discussed Brene Brown’s book, ‘Braving The Wilderness.” We also took that time to simply be together (virtually) and reconnect, sharing our experiences unique to the pandemic.

During ASM’s virtual meeting last April, we were incredibly lucky to have Dr. Lauren Shawn give an outstanding presentation on the impact of the COVID pandemic on female physicians “Having It All (Fall Apart)”. The presentation can be viewed here for those who missed it.

We would also like to congratulate Dr. Shawn on her new position as CEO of FemInEM! Very well deserved!

Finally, Dr. Ayrn O’Connor, a WiT founder, was featured on the Dantastic Mr. Tox podcast where she discussed mentorship and WiT. Listen here.

We planned an in-person happy hour during the NACCT meeting this month, but this will need to be rescheduled due to the pandemic and move to a virtual-only meeting. We will regroup and look forward to future events, virtual or otherwise, coming up in 2021 and beyond. In the meantime, please reach out with ideas and how WiT can best support you.
