Participate in the NEW ACMT Toxicology Case Exchange!
The ACMT Education Committee invites submissions for the inaugural ACMT Tox Case Exchange at the 2027 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, LA on Wednesday March 31, 2027.
The forum is specifically designed for trainee-presented cases that are educational rather than necessarily novel, including classic poisonings, diagnostic challenges, management dilemmas, interesting ECGs/imaging, and cases that sparked discussion or changed clinical practice.
This interactive, non-CME forum is designed to showcase educational toxicology cases presented by trainees. We are seeking classic poisonings, diagnostically challenging cases, uncommon presentations, management dilemmas, and other cases that offer high educational value for medical toxicologists. The goal is to create an engaging forum for discussion, networking, and shared learning among trainees including students, residents, and fellows.
This meeting will be fully in-person. Presenters will be required to register for the meeting and present in-person. There will be no virtual option.
Who Can Submit?
ACMT invites a presenting author who is a trainee (e.g. medical toxicology or clinical toxicology fellow, resident, medical or pharmacy student) with an interest in medical toxicology.
Each submission should include:
- One trainee presenting author
- One faculty mentor/co-author
- Overview abstract of no more that 1500 words
Submission Deadline: November 15, 2026
Recommended Case Criteria
We encourage submission of cases that:
- Highlight important principles in medical toxicology.
- Illustrate classic or particularly educational poisonings or visual finding e.g. imaging study, ECG
- Present diagnostic, therapeutic, or ethical challenges.
- Stimulate discussion or differing management approaches.
- Offer important teaching points, even if they are not sufficiently novel for a traditional scientific abstract.
Submissions should emphasize the educational value of the case rather than its rarity alone. We encourage cases that taught presenters something memorable, challenged their thinking, or changed their practice.
Additional Information
- This is a non-CME/CE educational forum.
- The forum is intended to provide trainees with presentation experience, facilitate networking with faculty and fellow trainees, and promote discussion of clinically meaningful toxicology cases.
- Cases that are not accepted for presentation in the main ASM scientific program may still be excellent candidates for this forum. Note that unlike formal abstracts accepted by the meeting, these abstracts will not be published in JMT.
- These submissions cannot be considered for any of the trainee travel awards that involve presentation of an abstract.
