How to Apply

ACMT invites all fellows, residents, and medical students to submit an abstract of a presentation for the Open Mic Competition. Any topic relevant to medical toxicology is appropriate—historical topics, mystery cases, molecular mechanisms, educational development, etc. Above all, we are looking for engaging speakers and interesting presentations. Presenters are chosen by a panel of evaluators. Proposals are evaluated on content and originality.

A complete proposal includes:

• Abstract (250 words describing your topic)
• Objective 1
• Objective 2
• Objective 3

Submission Deadline: January 5, 2027

How It Works

After initial review of all submissions, a select number of proposals will be selected for presentation at the 2027 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting on April 1-3, 2027 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This meeting will be fully in-person. Presenters will be expected to register for the meeting and present in-person. There will be no virtual option.

During the Open Mic session, selected presenters are required to give their presentation in an Ignite style. This format creates intense and fast presentations with sharp, concise messages. Each presentation must be 5 minutes long and have the following format:

• 20 slides
• 15 seconds per slide
• Slides automatically advance after 15 seconds
