ACMT Mourns the Passing of Steven Seifert, MD, FACMT

May 2022

It is with great sadness that the American College of Medical Toxicology shares news of the passing of  Steven Seifert, MD, FACMT on Wednesday, May 18th. Actively engaged with his professional and personal pursuits and passions until the very end, Steve was the 2022 Ellenhorn ACMT Career Achievement Award recipient and delivered a moving and inspiring address just this past March at our Annual Scientific Meeting. A past ACMT board member, and an active ToxIC site lead from our Albuquerque, New Mexico site, Steve had an unbridled enthusiasm for medical toxicology (particularly snakebites) and contributed so much to our field as an outstanding educator, researcher, editor and mentor. A real renaissance man with many outstanding talents outside of medicine including his work as an accomplished jazz musician, Steve will be forever missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. Our deepest condolences go out to Steve’s family, friends, and colleagues.
